Besides, cash and valuables worth about Rs 1.4 crore were stolen from the house.

According to the police, Chetna (51), wife of Jayant Ajmera, was found murdered at her residence in Vaishali apartment near Vikrant circle on the 60 Feet Road at Pantnagar in suburban Ghatkopar around 9 last night.

Jayant returned from office and found his wife lying in a pool of blood near the sofa placed in the flat's hall with her neck slit.

The murder is reported to have taken place between 4 pm and 5 pm.

For the past few days, repair and renovation work was underway at Ajmera's residence and the workers involved in this job have come under the scanner, police said.

"Since there was no forced entry into the house, it is clear that the person known to the family was involved in the crime. Rs 50,000 in cash and diamond-studded gold ornaments worth Rs 1.4 crore were robbed from the house", a police officer said.
