Police team attacked by men involved in illegal sale of

A police team has been attacked here allegedly by men involved in illegal sale of liquor, police said today.

On June 23, ASI Hariom, posted at Police Post Dhauj here received a call informing him that a person is transporting liquor on motorcycle, filled in milk containers.

A police team then rushed to the spot at Crusher Zone of Dhauj.

A motorcycle carrying milk containers was asked to stop and when police insisted on checking the containers, the man driving the motorcycle escaped, they said.

The police team followed the man but on reaching Silakhadi turn, about 30 to 40 men on motorcycles armed with wooden batons intercepted the police vehicle and started hitting it.
 

All the three cops in the vehicle were dragged outside and their mobile phones snatched from them.

One of the constables Rakesh Kumar was locked in a nearby room and his golden chain was snatched by the goons, police said.

Police Post Incharge SI Satveer Singh said that another constable has been seriously injured and referred to PGI Rohtak.

A case has been registered in this connection under relevant sections of the IPC, police said, adding, no arrest has been made so far and the matter is being investigated.
