A 45-years-old woman, identified as Jashoda Nai, ended her life at Mehsana police headquarters, setting herself ablaze after a domestic quarrel.

A police official of Mehsana 'A' division police station said that she succumbed to burn injuries last night.

The victim is the wife of head constable Pardeep Nai (47) and a mother of three children.

The police has registered a case of suicide after a complaint filed by her elder brother Ramesh Solanki.

Sources said that Jashoda took the extreme step after constant quarrels with her husband, allegedly due to his affair with another woman, which she did not approve.

Sources said that perpetual harassment left her with no other alternative, but to commit suicide.

"Head constable Pradeep had an affair with a woman, which led to quarrels in the family," the police official said.

However, Jashoda's brother Solanki said that it was not a simple case of suicide and his sister was constantly persuaded to end her life.

"Though we have performed her last rites, we are not satisfied with way the police dealt with the matter. We will take the matter to higher authorities and seek justice, since an innocent woman who was made to die," Solanki said.
