The swift action and close coordination of police team from three districts to nab eight persons involved in a series of ATM thefts in various states were honoured by top police officials here today.
DGP T K Rajendran along with ADGP (law and order) Vijayakumar honoured officials of Coimbatore, Salem and Namakkal district officials and presented them commendation certificates
Coimbatore City, Commissioner K Periaiah, Deputy Commissioner (Crime) T Perumal, Namakkal district, Superintendent, A Arularasu and ADSP S Senthil were presented the certificates, a police release said.

The release said three ATMS were robbed in Coimbatore on December 9 midnight and cash Rs 30.05 lakh was stolen.
Seven special teams were formed by Coimbatore Police to nab the culprits. initial investigations revealed that two cars with Haryana state registration numbers were involved in the offence, as also a lorry.
Further enquiries revealed that the vehicles moved on towards Salem on December 14 following which police stations and highway patrol were alerted.
One of the cars was secured along with two suspects in Namakkal district. However three persons in the other car escaped.
They were nabbed later with the help of a sniffer dog which went upto a certain spot and a drone which revealed their exact location.
Three more suspects travelling in the lorry were also secured at Seelanaickenpatti in Salem district, it said.
Further questioning of the eight suspects led to recovery of Rs 3.03 lakh cash and a revolver. Welding accessories used by them to cut the ATM machines were also seized.
The eight were invovled in ATM burglary cases in Madurai, Tiruppur and Vellore and also in 11 such offences in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka, the release said.
The eight accused from Rajasthan, Haryana, New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have been remanded to judicial custody, it said.
