Dismissing the rumours that polio vaccination causes death of children, the doctors in the Valley today said there is no need to panic as the rumours are false and unfounded.

The rumours spread this morning across the state resulting in huge rush of panicked parents bringing their children for check-ups after the dose of polio vaccination.

The lone children hospital - G B Panth - here also witnessed a huge rush.

However, the authorities completely rubbished the rumours.

"There is nothing to worry. These are baseless rumours spread by miscreants. There has been no such death," Medical Superintendent of G B Panth children hospital, Shafqat Khan said.

Medical practitioners said the vaccine cannot lead to death of the children.

"This vaccine does not cause death. At the most, there can be some side-effects including loose-motions and vomiting. There is nothing to worry," a senior pediatrician said here.
