A Polish Catholic bishop has apologised to those who were sexually abused by priests in his Warsaw diocese and vowed to take steps to win back their trust.
Bishop Romuald Kaminski of the Warsaw-Praga district spoke Thursday as Poland's church leaders work on a document to be published later this year to address the abuse of minors and suggest ways to prevent it.
Kaminski told a news conference that cases have been opened against 12 priests.
Pope Francis acknowledged this week that the sex abuse scandals rocking the Catholic Church around the world are driving people away and urged a change of its ways if the church wants to keep future generations.
