Preisner, who is here in connection with the preliminary work on the film, said that he was very happy to have been invited by an Indian director to compose music for his film.
Preisner said that he was attracted by the film's script Shaji sent to him and felt that there were 'many elements and artistic thinking' similar to that of Kieslowski in the work.
'Gaadha' (Legend) is based on a famous short story by Malayalam writer T Padmanabhan.
Shaji said that music was the core of the film. "My movie is an attempt to rediscover the interpretation of Indian classical music without diluting its spiritual core and fundamental essence with the help of a master craftsman and symphony composer from the West," he said.
He said the attempt was to maintain the freshness, purity, originality and universal spirit of music reflecting the passionate relationship and the mood map between the three main characters in the film-- the mother, father and daughter.
Preisner said he believed that there was only one music in the world. "I will try to do something unique for this film, by merging elements from my musical background and yours."
"It is very difficult to say what kind of music I will compose for the film. I won't try to be an Indian composer. The music will be a mixture of different elements, but it will be my music," Preisner said.
"A considerable part of the musical score would be recorded before the start of the film's shooting, for inspiration and synchronisation," he said.
The shooting of 'Gaadha,' an Indo-Polish-French co-production, will begin in October, Shaji said.
His earlier films 'Piravi,' 'Swaham,' 'Vaanaprastham' and 'Kuttisrank' had won international recognition at various festivals including Cannes.
