Polish national sentenced to 10 yrs jail for smuggling charas

A Polish national was today sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for cross-border narcotic smuggling.

Jedrejej Jeriersky (26), a Polish national, was arrested in April 2014 for smuggling about two kgs of charas worth close to Rs 50 lakh from Lumbini in Nepal to Kolkata for selling them off.

He was arrested within the limits of Burtolla Police Station and the smuggled contraband was seized from his possession.

The accused was pronounced guilty and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment by Special Judge, Bench-I, City Sessions Court, and a fine of Rs one lakh was also slapped on him, failure to comply, will attract further imprisonment for a period of six months.
