Political class welcome Tendulkar's nomination as RS member

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni said the nomination of Tendulkar for Rajya Sabha was a "very good step" and Congress always nominated well personalities to the Upper House "which leads to an enviornment of energy and encouragement in the country".

CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said the nomination of Tendulkar as a lawmaker was 'good' and government should nominate people like him and other eminent persons from different walks of life".

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said "Parliament is a serious business and one would expect Tendulkar to devote some time to Parliament".

Social activist Anna Hazare said "a good sportsperson is going into politics". PTI TEAM
