Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today said political leaders should avoid making controversial statements, days after Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan dubbed BR Ambedkar as someone who grabs land.
"Political leaders should practice restrain while making such statements as elections are near," he told reporters here.
Naik said there is a scope of improvement in law-and-order situation of the state and as assembly elections are heading, Election Commission has started working in this regard.
"My analysis of law and order is the same as yours (reporters). There is scope of its improvement. As elections are near EC is also working on it," he said.
