A few political parties and foreign countries are conspiring to defame the Narendra Modi government and the country, BJP in-charge of West Bengal Kailash Vijayavargiya claimed today.

"Canards are being spread against BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured uniform development across the country, irrespective of religion or caste. But a few political parties and foreign countries are conspiring to defame the government and the country," he told newsmen here.

Asked to name the countries and the political parties, Vijayavargiya said, "When the time comes I will tell you."

Earlier, speaking at a public meeting here, he said in the coming West Bengal Assembly polls, BJP will fight against Mamata Banerjee government for the sake of the people.

Bengal, he said, has become economically backward with no new industry or investor. "There are no investments as there is no assurance on land, power or water. Thousands are unemployed and there is no hope for development.

"If there in no new industry, how will the young get employment? How can there be development?" he asked and said the situation was grave as all officers and even the police were working for the ruling party.

Attacking the Chief Minister, state BJP president Rahul Sinha said, "When Maoists were most active in Junglemahal then she would walk in the area. But now when jungle is laughing (quoting Banerjee's oft repeated claims of smile in the faces of the people following peace and development in the tribal area under her government), she travels to the place only in helicopters."

Party leader and actress Rupa Ganguly said West Bengal has become a 'subsidy state' and often there are cries of alleged deprivation by the Centre. "But the moment the Centre sanctions money it is spent for the ruling party.

"The former Left Front government used to claim that it is the government of the poor. So does Mamata Banerjee now. But strangely the poor are benefitted only by grants from the Centre," she said.
