He was responding to a reporter who had sought his reaction to a statement made by Punjab Chief minister Prakash Singh Badal about the incident at Rakabganj in which he alleged Delhi government's interference in the affairs there.

"It's extremely unfortunate if the Chief Minister of Punjab has articulated it in those terms. What happened was extremely regrettable, reprehensible. But I think there is a legal process, there is an investigation process which has to play itself out," Tewari said.

"All of us should wait and before we jump to any conclusions, start second guessing it. I think responsible politicians and especially senior politicians should refrain from the habit of shooting from the hip," he added.
