Poll-bound Meghalaya transfers 18 senior police officers

The Meghalaya home department has transferred 18 senior police officers including 7 IPS officers, some of whom have been handed out promotions, an official notification said today.

The department announced the transfers and promotions in the state, where assembly elections are due early next year.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Wireless and Radio at Tura) Mukesh Kumar was transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID) at the headquarters here.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (law and order) was posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police at Tura in place of Kumar.

Spl SP Ricky Dkhar was posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (security) although without any pay benefits in view of the exigencies against the post.
 

Anti Infiltration SP at Tura Heimon Toi was posted as SP anti-infiltration, replacing G K Iangrai who was promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Shillong SP City Vivek Syiem was transferred and given charge as SP West Jaintia Hills district replacing R Muthu who was posted as commandant of 4th battalion.

Syiem will be replaced by Spill Thamar who was holding charge as SP (R/RR) here.

The other officers, mostly of the SP ranks, were also transferred. They were transferred in the state capital as well as in the Garo Hills region, among other places.
