Three candidates from the Kanpur Lok Sabha seat, including sitting Congress MP Sriprakash Jaiswal, were today served notice by the district administration for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
Union Coal Minister Jaiswal and Nav Bharat Democratic Party candidate Nikhil Gupta was slapped notices for putting up hoardings at various places without taking permission, Kanpur ADM Avinash Singh said.
BSP candidate Salim Ahmed was also sent a notice for sending bulk SMSes to people, he said.

Any candidate who wants to campaign for the election by putting up hoardings need to take permission from the the Election Commission appointed media-monitoring committee, Singh said.
If the Election Commission is not satisfied by their replies, then investigation will be done, he added.
A printing press in the city was raided and its owners have been told not to print any candidate's election poster or banner without taking prior permission from the district election officer, Singh said.
Also, every election banner or poster must mention the name and address of the printing press, he added.
