The security agencies have decided to seal the interstate border of Punjab along Rajasthan and Haryana as a precautionary measure to check any flow of contraband and arms, and to prevent intrusion of criminals which may affect the smooth polling in the state.
While presiding over a crucial coordination meeting of senior civil and police officials, Police Commissioner V K Sharma asked the senior police officials from Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh Muktsar, Fazilka and Ferozepur to share the list of proclaimed offenders and history-sheeters.
Sharma said that 24 strategic points have been identified along the boundary with Rajasthan from where intrusions could be made, adding that special barriers have been erected at all such vantage points.
