129 civic bodies in Rajasthan will go to polls on August 17 amidst tight security following which the results will be announced on August 20, the State Election Commission informed today.
The nomination filing will start with issuance of public notification on August 1 and the last date for filing nomations will be August 5, state election commissioner Ramlubhaya said.
The code of conduct for the civic bodies has come into force with the announcement of the election programme,

Polling will be on August 17 from 7 AM to 5 PM while election for Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson will be on August 21 and August 22 respectively, he said.
A total of 37.12 lakh voters are enrolled for the local bodies poll, the state EC said.
The commissioner said that EVMs will be used in the election for which 4,302 polling booths will be set up.
"Elaborate security arrangements will be in place for free and fair elections," he said.
It is for the first time that the candidates contesting panchayat elections in Rajasthan should now possess minimum educational qualifications and toilets in their homes, he said.
Along with the local bodies, elections in two Gram Panchayats -- Bassi Gram Panchayat in Jaipur and Sayla Gram Panchayat in Jalore -- will also be conducted, secretary of Election Commission Ashok Jain said.
