Polytechnic student killed in accident on Yamuna Expressway

A 19-year-old Polytechnic student was today killed when he was hit by a canter on Yamuna Expressway, triggering protest by locals who blocked the highway disrupting traffic for three hours.

Buddha Pal, resident of Nangla Kanchan Karoli and studying in Polytechnic college at Jewar, was hit by a speeding canter when he was waiting for a bus to go to college, police said, adding, he died on spot.

Angry villagers nabbed the canter driver and blocked the Expressway following which SDM Jewar and SP rural rushed to the spot and assured the mob that strict action would be taken against the driver.
 

Traffic jam was lifted after three hours following assurance from the authorities, police said, adding, the body has been sent for post-mortem and the driver arrested.

Meanwhile, in another accident, two persons were killed and three others injured when the truck carrying them overturned near Noida sector-135 today.

The truck was loaded with vegetables.

The deceased were identified as Pratap Singh and Tikam Singh, police said, adding, the injured have been admitted to hospital.
