Pon Radhakrishnan calls on TN Chief Minister

Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneersrelvam at the Secretariat here today.

Radhakrishnan and the Chief Minister discussed about the status of several ongoing projects and acquisition of land for some projects.

"I had discussed about some of the ongoing projects including the Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project, Maduravoyal Road link project. We were also discussing about acquisition of lands for some of the projects..," Radhakrishnan told reporters.

He was accompanied by senior BJP leaders including Tamil Nadu unit president Thamizhisai Sounderrajan.
 

Recently, Union Road Transport, Highways, and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari who made his first visit to Tamil Nadu had appealed for the cooperation of Tamil Nadu government for taking up several projects.

"I am ready to offer Rs 50,000 crore worth of road networks if the state government co-operates. Only problem in road sector is land acquisition. It is a very difficult task," Gadkari had said.

On the issue of five Tamil fishermen awarded death sentence by Sri Lankan Court, Radhakrishnan expressed hope that an amicable solution would be found since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intervened in the matter.

Emerson, P Augustus, R Wilson, K Prasath and J Langlet, all hailing from Tamil Nadu, were apprehended in 2011 and were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court on October 30 for alleged drug trafficking.
