Ponappa's mixed doubles campaign ends in German Open

India's Ashwini Ponnappa and her partner Vladimir Ivanov bowed out of the German Open Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament following defeat against third seeds Chris and Gabrielle Adcock, here today.

The unseeded Indo-Russian combine went down fighting 19-21 15-21 to the British pair in the mixed doubles second round, which lasted 37 minutes at the RWE-Sporthalle.

Later in the day, Ponappa will combine with compatriot Jwala Gutta for the women's doubles clash against the fourth sed Koreans Lee So Hee and Shin Seung Chan Korea.

Arvind Bhat will also play in the men's singles. He is up against Korean second seed Son Wan Ho in the USD 120,000 tournament.
