Terming the demonetisation move as 'ridiculous' and 'unwise', Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today alleged the country's economy had been badly hit and demanded that the Centre roll back the scheme in the larger interest of the people.
Addressing a demonstration sponsored by the ruling Congress here to condemn the Centre's move, he hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "causing hardships and misery" to the common man by banning high value currencies without reportedly making alternative arrangements for smooth functioning of the economy.
"The scrapping of high value currency notes has landed farmers, daily wage earners and petty vendors in deep misery," he said.
