Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today expressed concern over the alleged attacks on the fishermen of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry by Sri Lanka navy.
"The fishermen of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are facing hardships frequently at the hands of Sri Lankan naval personnel and their coast guard, which is highly condemnable," he told reporters.
Reacting to the arrest of six fishermen of Karaikal region, who were allegedly arrested by the Lankan navy on March 31, he said he had contacted the High Commission of India in Colombo and requested the authorities to release the fishermen and return their boats.

Earlier in the day, kin of those arrested, submitted a petition to the Chief Minister seeking his assistance to get the fishermen released.
