Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today appealed to the opposition to join hands with the government for successful implementation of various welfare schemes in Puducherry so that the Union Territory can emerge as numero uno in various sectors including Education.
Speaking in the assembly on the concluding day of two-day debate on motion of thanks to Lt Governor's address to the Assembly, Narayanasamy said, "By sinking differences, the ruling and opposition blocks canimplement several schemes and welfare measures for the betterment of people in Puducherry."
Replying to members' views, Narayanasamy said his government was now preoccupied with toning up the administration by 'embarking upon various reforms'.

He said a most of the public sector undertakings were in the red and time had come to tone them up.
Expressing confidence that the NDA government would sympathetically consider the pleas for sufficient funds for various schemes in Puducherry, he said he had held discussions with Prime Minister and other Central Ministers for sanction of funds.
Former Chief Minister and leader of the opposition N Rangasamy (AINRC) pointed outthatNarayanasamy could have procured several incentives for those intending to establish industries in Puducherry and also procured statehood or statehood with special category status for Puducherry when he was a central minister, he said.
