Puducherry Minister A Namassivayam today welcomed the suggestion of Lt Governor Kiran Bedi that Ministers canhave discussions with her on "any issue any day."

"We can do that.. There is nothing wrong in it and I welcome the suggestion..," Namassivayam told reporters here while replying to a query on the recent whatsapp message sent by Bedi on holding discussions with Ministers on public issues.

"Bedi had taken the stand that Raj Nivas is People's Nivas and is open for all.. We can solve public issues through discussions," the Local Administration Minister said.

Bedi, who has been at loggerheads with the territorial government on various issues, had yesterday said she would be happy to hold discussions with the ministers on "any issue any day."

"I only mean good to them. I am only against corruption, injustice and delays," she had said in her WhatsApp message to the media.

She had also said she would be "happy to remove any hurdle coming in the way of prosperity of Puducherry."

Earlier, at the launch of online facility for payment of property taxes, the Minster said, "A note has been received from the Local Administration Department to impose property tax on the (educational) institutions also."

The proposal was under consideration and an appropriate decision would be taken soon through a meeting of the cabinet to levy the tax on the institutions, he added.

Namassivayam further said the move would ensure hike in revenue to the fund-starved municipal bodies here.

On the new online facility, he said it would be of great benefit to tax payers as they can avoid queues and remit the amount through the online mode from their homes or from wherever they preferred including common service centres.
