Ponzi scheme accused held from Hauz Khas

The owner of an Odisha-based film production company, who had allegedly duped people to the tune of around Rs 230 crore through a Ponzi scheme, has been arrested from south Delhi's Hauz Khas area, police said today.

The accused, Pravesh Chander Rout, is the owner of an Odia daily and has produced around four Odia movies. He is also into real estate and infrastructure business.

Around two years ago, he allegedly floated OSCAR group of companies and allegedly started a ponzi scheme and cheated people to the tune of around Rs 230 crore, a senior police official said.

Based on a tip-off, Rout was arrested from a guest house in Hauz Khas area, where he was staying since May 25 with forged documents, and handed him over to Odisha police, the official added.
