Ace discus thrower Krishna Poonia, who finished fourth in the ongoing Asian Athletics Championships here, is heading to Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment on her injured groin.

"SAI doctors at the NIS Patiala has recommended 21 days complete rest. I thought it would be great to have some relaxation of body and mind at Kerala. I am also going to do Ayurvedic treatment," she told PTI here.

"I was recovering from my groin injury but I had wanted to take part in the Championships. So I took part by having painkiller injections. Now I will have complete rest," she added.

Her husband Virender Poonia said that fluid had accumulated on her wife's groin.

"MRI and other tests revealed that fluid had accumulated on Krishna's groin. But she is feeling better now. During the National Inter-State Championships in Chennai last month it was difficult even to bend down, but now she is OK," Virender said.

"We have to start training at NIS Patiala from August onwards. We have to start and condition the body for two years before the 2016 Rio Olympics. There is Asian and Commonwealth Games also," he said.
