The Telangana government would offer financial assistance of Rs 12,000 to poor pregnant women who visit state-run hospitals for deliveries.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who held a meeting with officials on the issue today, asked a committee of senior women bureaucrats to prepare a plan of action for the implementation of the decision, a release from his office said.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the government's decision to provide a kit of useful items to women after delivery. The kit, named 'KCR kit', would have mosquito net, shampoo, soaps, powders and towels.
