Pooran Pandey on board of World Food Programme

The World Food Programme (WFP) has appointed Pooran C Pandey, chief executive of the Dialogue of Civilisations Research Institute, on the board of the trustees of the WFP India.

According to a statement issued by the WFP here today, other members of the board of trustees include Prof MS Swaminathan, known as the father of the Green Revolution in India, and a recipient of the World Food Prize; Rita Sarin, country director of The Hunger Project India; and former chief secretary to the government of India, Neela Gangadharan.

On his appointment, Pandey said he was "very honoured to join the board of trustees of the WFP. My position as CEO at the Dialogue of Civilisations Research Institute and my contribution to the WFP will bring a valuable asset to both organisations, connecting research with practical advice."
 

The WFP Trust was chaired by former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral for several years. The trust attempts at reducing poverty, hunger, and malnutrition for the most disadvantaged sections of the population in India.
