Poppy husk worth Rs 2 crore seized

Haryana Police today claimed to have seized huge quantity of poppy husk worth around Rs two crore in street market from a house near Murtzapur village in Kurukshertra district.

Police said 18,928 kg of poppy husk stored in 487 gunny bags was seized in a raid conducted in a house here yesterday based on a tip off, police said.

Estimated value of the seized item is Rs 2 crore in local market, Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Simmardeep Singh told mediapersons here today.

They also recovered two country-made pistols, 21 live cartridges, red beacon light, registration number plates of five vehicles of Punjab and Haryana, weighing machine, and packaging material, he said.
 

Three suspects allegedly involved in smuggling of the poppy husk to Haryana, Punjab and nearby areas were being interrogated, police said today.

During the raid many documents were found but the house-owner, who is a resident of Punjab, was missing.

Police were conducting raids at various places in Haryana and Punjab to nab the kingpin of the alleged drug racket, the SP said.
