Portion of false ceiling falls at airport

A portion of the false ceiling near the domestic arrival area at the airport fell down today creating panic among the people, airport sources here said.

The incident occurred in the wee hours when personnel from CRPF, CISF and other agencies were undertaking rehearsal.

However, nobody was injured in the incident.

The security at the airport has been tightened in view of the Independence day celebrations.

Today's mishap is the latest in a series of about 50 incidents of collapse of glass panels, granite slabs and false ceiling at the new domestic and international terminals since they were inaugurated in January 2013.
 

In the previous incident on August 6, a glass outer cover of a halogen bulb in the visitors gallery of the airport broke injuring three men.
