The gifted midfielder who became a legend in both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona would don colour for Goa XI in a friendly tie against India XI at Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on November 1.

India XI will be led by Churchill Brothers Brazilian striker Roberto Mendes da Silva.

"We have tentatively decided to name the home team as Figo Goa XI. He will play for a minimum of 20 minutes although the exact duration of the match is still being worked out," said a spokesperson from the Mumbai-based Red9 Events, the company responsible for getting Figo to Goa.

The Goa squad will comprise youngsters selected from the 2500 players participating in the Youth Champions league.

Should the selected players be "too young", a few of players from Goa's I-League teams have been requested to lend a helping hand, he informed.

The 12 shortlisted players from the three-day Youth Champions league, apart from on-field Figo experience, will also earn a trip to Portugal where they will train at Football by Carlos Queiroz, an internationally acclaimed Portuguese football academy.
