Silver prices went up by 0.49 per cent to Rs 38,510 per kg in futures market today as participants built up fresh positions amid positive cues from overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May shot up by Rs 188, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 38,510 per kg in business turnover of 752 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month July gained Rs 151, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 39,040 per kg in 25 lots.
