Silver prices went up by Rs 207 to Rs 42,400 per kg in futures trading today as speculators widened positions amid firm trend in precious metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March 2018 was trading higher by Rs 207, or 0.49 per cent, at Rs 42,400 per kg in a business turnover of three lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in December was up by Rs 185, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 41,802 per kg in 729 lots.

Analysts said that speculative positions created by participants tracking a firm trend in global market as weakness in the dollar on the back of weaker-than-expected US jobs data, raised demand for the commodities including precious metals, influenced silver prices at futures prices trade here.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.25 per cent to USD 18.14 an ounce in Singpoare.
