Positive global cues lift silver futures by Rs 88

Silver prices went up by Rs 88 to Rs 42,510 per kg in futures trading today as speculators widened positions amid firm trend in precious metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 88, or 0.21 per cent, at Rs 42,510 per kg in a business turnover of 460 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 82, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 43,038 per kg in 8 lots.

Market analysts said speculative positions built up by participants, tracking a firm trend global markets for precious metals, supported the upside in silver prices at futures trade.
 

Meanwhile, silver rose as much as 0.31 per cent to trade at USD 17.85 an ounce in Singapore today.
