"More and more candidates will now be able to apply for the post of VC due to open advertisement. This will not only make the process of appointment transparent, but also ensure timely appointment of VCs," Singh said today.
The new guidelines will also bring uniformity in the appointment process of the VCs in all the government universities, he said.
The committees will have to submit comparative details of all the candidates and will also have to present a reason for the recommendation of the candidate to the governor.
Advertisement for the post will be issued in two national newspapers, and also be posted on the website of the related university.
Format of application for the post of VC has also been prepared and the candidates will have to provide information about education, field of specialisation, service related details, experience of working on administrative posts and details of publication.
The committees will have to complete the process in a given timeframe so that the universities will get their VCs by the time the post is vacant.
The selection committees are formed in every government university to select candidate for the post of the Vice Chancellor and it is on their recommendation that the Governor appoints the Vice Chancellor.
"Rajasthan is the first state in the country to initiate this," he said.
The University of Alwar will be the first where the appointment of VC will be done as per the new guidelines.
