Around 14 participants including women are taking part in the three-day training programme, which would focus on variability of agriculture in Nagaland.

Head of Transfer of Technology (ToT) Division, Deepak Raj addressed the gathering saying Nagaland farmers face difficulties due to small landholdings and uneven terrain.

"They can increase their income by value addition through adoption of processing technologies, using modified atmosphere packaging and growing high value cash crops," he said.

A senior scientist Sangeeta Chopra said, "We would provide all kind of assistance even after completion of the training."

The training sessions would include lectures on value addition technologies in horticulture, minimal processing and Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), low cost storage of horticulture produce, green pepper powder and puree and value added products from fruits, she said.
