India Post has dispatched over 2.70 lakh bottles of 'Gangajal' across the country up to November this year, Parliament was informed today.
India Post has put in place arrangements for supply and distribution of Gangajal, sourced from Rishikesh and Gangotri through post offices across the country since July 10, 2016.
"Currently, more than 2.70 lakh bottles of 200 ml and 500 ml have been sent across the country for distribution upto November 15, 2016 since inception," Communications Minister Manoj Sinha said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

He added that Gangajal is being made available through Head Post Offices and ePost Office portal.
"Arrangements have also been made for doorstep delivery of 'Gangajal' across the country through Speed Post. India Post is taking utmost care in maintaining sanctity and purity of Gangajal right from stage of collection from Rishikesh/ Gangotri till its delivery to the customers," he said.
In response to a separate query, Sinha said the revenue generated through the railway reservation centre at post offices since inception till October 2016 is around Rs 20.86 crore.
The facility is available at 346 post offices.
