Potato prices fell by 0.71% to Rs 956 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions due to low demand in spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato prices for May contract fell by Rs 6.90, or 0.71%, to Rs 956 per quintal, with a business volume of 35 lots.

The potato for delivery in March declined by Rs 6, or 0.62%, to Rs 959 per quintal, with a trading volume of 198 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in potato prices at futures trade was due to low demand in the physical markets against increased arrivals from growing regions.
