Potato prices rose three per cent to Rs 1,402.80 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions amidst pick-up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in July surged by Rs 40.80, or three per cent, to Rs 1,402.80 per quintal with a business turnover of 34 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in potato prices at futures trade to tight arrivals from growing belts against rising demand in the spot markets.
