Reddy, who began his three-day mass-contact programme 'Indiramma Bata' (on the path shown by Indiramma) in Kurnool district today, said the acute power shortage would come to an end as the state witnessed heavy rains over the last few days.
The downpour made the water levels rise substantially in the reservoirs, thus helping in enhancing power production, he said.
The acute power shortage was mainly because of the scarcity of water and gas to produce power, he said.
The unprecedented power crisis in the state, even during rainy season faced flak from all sections of society. Main opposition Telugu Desam and all other opposition parties have been holding a series of protests over the issue.
The Chief Minister also said the state government has increased the support price for paddy to Rs 1,280 from Rs 590.
The government itself would purchase the paddy from the farmers, by paying Rs 1,500 per quintal to encourage the agriculturists, who grow a fine quality rice in Kurnool and the districts, he said.
He also interacted with the members of minority community at a separate event.
