Several areas in East Delhi today continued to face power cuts for varying duration primarily due to "failure" of the authorities in Uttar Pradesh to repair a major transmission line which was damaged 10 days back.

A power department official said the Ghazipur 220 KV Grid broke down around 10 days ago and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) was yet to restore it.

"It is their failure. We are suffering because they are yet to restore the line," said a senior official in the power department of Delhi government.

The snapping of the line has affected power supply in areas such as Patparganj, Ghazipur and Mayur Vihar and various areas in East Delhi.

A BSES Yamuna Power Ltd official said the discom was doing its "best" to back feed these areas through alternate lines.
