Power cuts in Delhi after circuits trip

Power cuts, nearly two hours long, were reported from various parts of the national capital due to tripping in 220 KV and 400 KV circuits in Tata Power-DDL areas.

The main areas affected were Wazirabad Water Works, Delhi University, DIFR and Vidhan Sabha with about 1.6 lakh TATA power consumers suffering the interruption.

The major grids and circuits of DTL affected were 220 KV Gopalpur, 220 KV Subzimandi and about 350 MW load was affected since the tripping started.

Consumers of Delhi Transco Limited had to bear the outage of supply after the discom's transmission network failure.

Besides this, tripping from DTL 400 KV Bawana Grid was also reported between 4.55 PM and 5.24 PM which affected about one lakh consumers.
 

However, Tata Power-DDL claimed that all the critical loads were restored quickly and effectively.

Power in most of the areas was restored by 5.30 PM except for a few pockets of Narela, where large number of trees had fallen on the distribution lines.
