The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved a proposal to install energy-efficient equipment at seven important temples in the State at a cost of Rs 6.45 crore.
The proposal was put forward by the State Energy Conservation Mission (SESM).
In a press release, Chief Executive Officer of SECM A Chandrasekhara Reddy, said these seven temples - located in Srisailam, Vijayawada, Srikalahasti, Dwaraka Tirumala, Kanipakam, Simhachalam and Annavaram - would be provided with LED bulbs and fans.

The entire project will cost Rs 6.45 crore and result in saving of Rs 4.15 crore per year, Reddy said, adding this is the first such programme in the country.
