Its Chairman and Managing Director, Devender Singh, ordered to place the ledger clerk Sumer Chand under suspension last evening after surprise checking, an official release said here today.

An industrial category connection having 48 KW load had been released at Karnal on August 17 and about 16,000 units of electricity had been consumed.

"It was the responsibility of the ledger clerk to send advise to computer section to generate the bill amounting to Rs 1.15 lakh. But the official did not send advise till date to the computer section for billing, resulting in delay," it said.

A public representative had earlier claimed before Singh that power utilities officials were not preparing bills carefully, whose heavy amount was a reason for default at the consumer's end.

Earlier, two executive engineers of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, V K Aggarwal and Manoj Yadav, had been placed under suspension by Singh for not looking after the financial interests of the Nigam properly.
