Power generation in 1st unit to resume next month

: Power supply from the first unit of Kundankulam Nuclear Power plant, taken down for maitenance on June 26, would resume next month, a top official said here today.

Maintanance work is going on in the first unit and it was expected to be over this month. It will function from next month onwards, KNPP site director R S Sundar told reporters.

He was speaking after delivering at the government medical college here.

Asked about second unit, he said work on removing 'dummy fuel' was over. The actual fuel would be filled after clearance from Atomic Energy Regulation Board, he said.
 

Power generation in this unit would start in two months, he said, but did not mention an exact date.
