Power Grid Director I S Jha gets additional charge as CMD

State-run transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India Director (Project) I S Jha has been given additional charge as the Chairman and Managing Director for three months from tomorrow.

The government has approved "to assign the additional charge of the post of the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to I S Jha, Director (Project), PGCIL with effect from October 1, 2015 for a period of three months or till the appointment of regular CMD or until further orders, whichever occur earliest," a source said.

The current CMD R N Nayak retires today.

The government head-hunter PESB had earlier recommended Jha's name for the post of CMD at Power Grid Corporation.
 

Jha has been recommended by Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) from a list of eight contenders, according to information on PESB website.

Jha, 55, is an Electrical Engineer from NIT, Jamshedpur.

He was appointed as Director on Power Grid Board in September, 2009.
