Train services on the Sealdah-Ranaghat section were today disrupted for over an hour during the peak evening time, owing to disconnection of power supply to overhead wires, an official said.
Thousands of passengers were stranded at different stations on the busy Sealdah main section, with trains to destinations like Kalyani, Ranaghat and Santipur unable to run.
The disruption from 5.10 pm to 6.30 pm was caused due to snapping of high-tension line of West Bengal State Electricity Development Corporation Ltd (WBSEDCL) at Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district, the Eastern Railway official said.
