Power utility junior engineer held for Rs 24,000 bribe

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a junior engineer of state-run power utility MSEDCL for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 24,000 to provide new electricity connections to a housing society members.

The engineer, Ulhas Choudhari, is working at Nashik Road's office of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).

He demanded a bribe of Rs 24,000 for providing new electricity connections to eight members of a housing society here, an ACB release said here.

The society Chairman lodged a complaint with the ACB, which laid a trap and caught Choudhari while accepting the bribe money in his office this afternoon, it said.
 

The junior engineer was booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and subsequently placed under arrest.
