A powerful tiffin bomb was today found in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh's Naxal-hit Bastar division ahead of Lok Sabha MP Dinesh Kashyap's visit to the region.
A joint ROP (road opening party) of Indo-Tibetan Border Police and police was on a patrol to sanitise the road which connects Kondgaon and Narayanpur district headquarters in view of the visit of Kashyap, the BJP MP from Bastar constituency, a senior police official said.
The security personnel spotted a wire connection ahead of a bridge on a rivulet close to Chheribeda village, located nearly 300 km from here, and later found the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), he said.

The explosive, weighing about 8-10 kg, was placed underground in a steel container on the roadside, the official said, adding it was immediately neutralized by the bomb disposal squad.
Ruling out the incident's connection with the MP's visit, the official said it appears that the bomb was planted long back in a bid to cause damage to security forces during their operations on the route.
However, patrolling has been intensified in the interior forest pockets to check suspicious movements, he added.
Kashyap later arrived at Narayanpur as per his schedule.
