Prabhu ends with silver in Asian Junior Squash

Navaneeth Prabhu went down fighting to second seed M A Amirul of Malasyia to settle for silver in the U-13 boys category at the Asian Junior Squash Championship here today.

The Indian lost 11-9, 6-11, 4-11, 10-12 in the final.

Prabhu started off well but saddled with pressure he slipped in consistency. Still he had the pride of being the only Indian to enter the final in the Championship.

In addition to his silver, India had a tally of four bronze medals --Tushar Shahani (boys U-15), Harshit Jawanda (girls U-19), Nikita Joshi (girls U-17) and Megha Bhatia (girls U-13). All of them had lost in the semi-final stage.
 

The results: semi-final: U-15: Tushar Shahani lost to M. Hafiz Zhafri (Mal)10-12, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11

U-13: Navaneeth Prabhu bt Danial Gharooni (Irn) 8-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-8

Girls: U-19: Andrea Lee (Mal) bt Harshit Jawanda 5-11, 11-9,11-9, 11-3;

U-17: Sivasangari Subramaniam (Mal) bt Nikita Joshi 12-10, 7-11, 11-6, 11-7

U-13: Kiroshanna Manoharan (Mal) bt Megha Bhatia 12-14, 11-4, 11-3, 11-7.
