Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today invited Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to the ground breaking ceremony of a LNG Terminal to be built at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore at the Dhamra Port.

Pradhan, a senior BJP leader, has written a letter to Patnaik requesting him to join the 'Bhumi Pujan' programme for the project scheduled to be held at Dhamra Port in Bhadrak district on July 8.

The construction of the LNG terminal will involve an investment of Rs 6,000 crore, while an amount of Rs 4,500 crore will be invested for the pipeline and city gas distribution programme, Pradhan said.

The minister said altogether 2,539 km of gas pipeline network will be laid under the ambitious project.

The project will benefit the eastern states including Odisha, Pradhan said.

The natural gas from the terminal will also be supplied to various city gas distribution networks in eastern India. Dhamra will be the sixth LNG project announced on the east coast.
